The neighbourhood

The building is located in a quiet cul-de-sac, off a side
street. The quarter is home to most of Istanbul’s music stores. There are many corner shops as well as cafes. The Monastery of the Whirling Dervishes is in the immediate vicinity, as is the German cultural Centre "Teutonia", and the German Grammar School. This is where the pedestrian
zone starts, which continues up to Istanbul’s central square, the Taksim Square.

The distance from the house to the sea is approximately 800 m, to the spot where the Golden Horn branches off the Bosporus.
